Adam and Lauren Marshall's Wedding (04-30-11)

Adam and I headed up to Raleigh on April 30th for the wedding of Adam Marshall and Lauren Troxclair. Adam went to school with both of them and was in the same fraternity as Adam. In fact, we all call him Kimmell because he looks just like Jimmy Kimmell.

Me and Lindsay....Love her...

The bride is from New Orleans and the groom is from North Carolina. They did a great job of merging traditions throughout the ceremony and reception. You see, the bride is catholic and the groom is jewish. They had both a priest and rabbi perform the ceremony. Adam was thrilled that he was able to participate in the ceremony by yelling (and I mean yelling) "Mazel Tov." At the reception they had foods from both place such as shrimp and grits, gumbo, Krispy Kreme donuts and shrimp Po'boys.

Towards the end of the reception we were all given a handkerchief that had the following attached to it...

"Second Line Handkerchiefs...The tradition of second line handkerchiefs is based on the famous New Orleans jazz funerals. In New Orleans, a jazzy band would play and parade in honor of the life of a deceased person. The second line is the group dancing or walking just behind the band which is the first line. Many in the parade had either an umbrella or parasol to add to the spirit of the procession. Those who did not have the umbrellas and wanted to join the parade would grab the nearest white handkerchief or napkin to wave in the air. Today, the celebration of life, grand openings and weddings have added the second line to display the joy of the event. Please use this white handkerchief to wave in the air and allow you to join in Lauren and Adam's "Second Line Parade."

It was such a unique and personalized addition to the reception and one I will not soon forget.

Here is the bride and groom leading the way...

Everyone quickly joined in and got in the spirit...

And of course, what wedding would be complete without the famous worm...
