Benson's Lake Day

On Labor Day, Benjamin, Jessica, and Benson came over to go on a boatride on Lake Murray. We had a relaxing ride over to the Chapin Lakehouse where we sat in rocking chairs eating toffee and boiled peanuts (does it get any better than that?). Then we stopped to see the sunset.
Me with my favorite little boy (I can say that honestly as I currently only have a neice and all of my friends have girls)
Jessica looked away to avoid watching the below take place while we were moving (luckily, we were near the marina and were just poking along)...
Benson was a great First Mate. Here is my hunky captain...
Say "ahhhhhh"
Who could resist this face?
I am not sure who had more fun.

Birthday Cakes

Taylor and Hope both have a birthday in September so we usually celebrate them together. This year Cyndi asked me to do their birthday cakes. I wanted each cake to reflect their personality. Hope's was a shoe cake that I made out of fondant with a hat and pearls. It was very Hope...

Taylor is a middle school art teacher so of course her cake had to reflect that.
I loved the wood grain in the pallet.

They were both very surprised and appreciative which made it completely worth it!

Visit with Christian

We were able to see Marshall at the football game and then the next morning Marshall, Tess and Christian met us at the hotel to have breakfast. He is getting so big. He is 5 months old and 19 pounds! How adorable is the above picture?

USC v NC State

Ed, Cyndi, Adam and I headed up on Thursday to NC State for their opening game. They were playing USC. We were able to meet up with Marshall Ward and some of his friends from Washington, DC to tailgate.
Lets go Wolfpack!
We were able to see Adam's uncle Donald. He is Cyndi's brother...if you couldn't tell.

Lake Weekend

We had Largen, Tonya, Dowell, and Lenna over for the weekend. Adam's parents have a lakehouse in Chapin. Since we moved, we have really been able to take advantage of it. Every year since 2002 Adam's friends from Raleigh come down for a lake weekend.

Community Options Cookout

Community Options provides housing, support services, and advocacy assistance to help empower people with disabilities. They develop residential and employment supports for people with severe disabilities. They believe that there are four values critical to supporting individuals with disabilities and their families successfully: individual choice; customer satisfaction; person-centered planning; and economic empowerment.

Adam and I went to the Community Options Cookout on Friday, August 28th. They were having a cookout for the residences and their families. It was a great turnout. They had a dj and Adam was able to show off his line dancing skills. I am the chairman of their Business Advisory Board and we are going to be put on a 5K race in February to raise money for this amazing cause.
